About us - History Wkret-met was established in 1990, as a continuation of a family run business dealing in plastics production, which had originally started in 1978. Initially, the company covered an area of 300 square meters and comprised a limited number of machines and modest storage facilities. As a result of transformations, in September 1992 the company changed its name into Wkret-met®. The new company purchased four machines for manufacturing plastic components and a few automatic mills. A new production building was also constructed. Further development included a new warehouse for finished goods, which enabled the introduction of a shift system and application of necessary logistics solutions for most frequently bought products. The same year the whole company was computerized: new equipment was purchased to create one computer network and internet access was provided. The following years witnessed coherent financial policy resulting in the purchase of more machines and increased production. As implementation of a new marketing strategy, the company decided to embark on expansion in south-east Poland promoting Wkret-met products there. The plan at that time was to create a network of regional distributors in major economic and trade centres in Poland, as a result of which the first two sites in Lublin and Leszno were established. In 1994, in response to the ever-growing market demand, the company started the production of hardened chipboard screws. A wider range of products enabled broader co-operation and expansion to new markets. At that time Wkret-met brand products started to be recognized in north and north-west Poland. With the purchase of German quenching furnaces the company made a breakthrough to the world of modern technologies. Consequently, in 1995 we included in our offer a full array of chipboard screws available in the market and became the first company in Poland to produce wood hex head screws. By 1998, systematic extension of the product range doubled the number of wholesale buyers and, consequently, resulted in increased turnover. With the end of 90s’ the company started the construction of the most modern production plant of fastening technologies in Central and Eastern Europe. A factory covering the total area of 10,000 square meters was built and equipped with Arburg, Demag and Krauss Mefai production machines. All this allowed us to introduce fully automatic production, enhance efficiency and improve product quality. At the same time our research laboratory designed a model for a triple-direction plug, which was successfully patented. Before long, Wkret-met obtained more patents for the universal wall plug, frame plug, and a new design of a universal plug. Moreover, almost all our products have quality certificates issued by the Building Research Institute. The year 2001 witnessed a change in the company’s marketing strategy, which resulted in the building of new branch offices and warehouses. By the end of 2003, with nine warehouses and 130 vehicles ensuring cross-country delivery of its products, Wkret-met became a market leader in fastening technologies in Poland.
